The hat is worked in twisted ribbing. It takes a little more work than basic ribbing, but the effort pays off – the result looks stunning when stretched.

How to work the knitwear: The Kallio hat is worked in twisted ribbing from the brim to the crown. The crown is shaped with six-part decreases that give the hat its modern and stylish look. You can fold the edge twice or three times - you choose! 

As the hat is made of lightweight knit, it’s perfect especially for the transitional seasons. The pattern is also a great way to use up a single skein of fingering-weight sock yarn you haven’t yet found a project for.

Yarn

70 (75) g of any fingering weight sock yarn (75 % merino wool, 25 % nylon - approx. 420 m / 460 yds / 100 g). 

Sock yarn is preferred just because the hat won’t get as loose as when using for example single merino yarn.

Needles

2.25 mm (US1) circular needle 40 cm / 16” and DPNs or longer 2.25 mm (US1) circular needle for magic loop.

Notions

6 removable st markers (1 different for BOR).

Gauge

46 sts x 40 rnds = 10 cm / 4” of ribbing without stretching.

The hat should fit snug rather than loose after finishing, as it will stretch with wear.
